Backpacks 4 Vic Kids

An exciting position is available for students keen to get real world experience in events management. If you are studying Community Services, Active Volunteering or a have an interest in the creative industries then this is the placement you have been looking for! Founded in Victoria in 2014, Backpacks 4 Vic Kids provide crisis packs and gift packs to vulnerable children, aged from birth to seventeen years. They aim to bring comfort, ease anxiety and to restore dignity. They deliver six programs supporting children in crisis. Working out of their Cranbourne West warehouse, staff and volunteers work together to provide backpacks where needed.

Skills You Might Learn

While undertaking this position in event coordination support students will learn research skills, marketing skills, social media skills and how to use Canva. Students will also gain employability skills including problem solving skills, time management, interpersonal and social skills.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will be supporting staff and volunteers with
• Event planning including catering, venue locating, entertainment
• Data management
• Communications including email and phone
• Participating in debriefing and campaign analysis
• Campaign support Skills and Experience:
• Use Canva to create images for events and campaigns

Student Requirements

Students will be required to be supportive, respectful and friendly, able to communicate with a range of participants, and have good time management. As this employer is a not-for-profit community organisation payment will not be provided. Please note, a resume will be required before the interview and minimum standard of competency in Microsoft Office suite will be tested.

Dress Requirements

Neat casual, closed toe shoes and no tank tops.

Special Transport Requirements

May need to get there by own transport.
