IGA Alira is a newly opened local supermarket servicing a rapidly growing area of Berwick.
This placement offers a broad introduction to the retail industry with the opportunity to undertake a range of tasks and duties from stock management to customer service.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will learn about the roles and responsibilities required to successfully operate a busy, fast-paced business. Students will gain an understanding of appropriate customer service, product placement, efficient organisation and adherence to health and safety requirements in a retail environment.
Students will also learn a range of employability skills such as effective communication, teamwork, self-management and problem-solving.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will undertake a range of tasks including receipt of stock, stocking shelves, maintenance of a clean and tidy workspace as well as a high standard of customer service. Students will become familiar with a range of products to be able to assist customers with product selection.
Student Requirements
Students are required to attend on time each day with an enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to work as part of a team. Students will respond as directed and complete required tasks on time. Students will be respectful, professional and courteous at all times.
Students must attend an interview before placement. This allows for employer and student questions to be answered and for paperwork to be signed.
Dress Requirements
Students are required to wear neat casual black clothing and closed toed shoes.
Special Transport Requirements
IGA Alira is accessible via public transport. Bus arrives at Centre Rd, Berwick.
