Located in Tyabb. The Wilindi Estate hosts rescue farm animals at their holiday resort, such as ponies, pigs, goats & chickens. They also offer Equine Assisted Learning to their customers.

Skills You Might Learn

Students on placement will build their skills in basic animal care, animal safety processes, teamwork, animal-related cleaning (of shelters and related areas), animal dietary needs and OH&S procedures.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Typical duties may include cleaning the animals sleeping quarters, opening up the yard, helping to prep and feed the animals, animal handling, stock control, customer service and following all safe working practices.
Working in a team environment, following direction and developing organisational skills are vital and are given the opportunity to be developed throughout the placement.

Student Requirements

Students must be studying Animal Studies to be eligible for this SWL placement. Students should understand that, give some of the industry restrictions and safety protocols, there will be a limit to the extent to which students can be involved in hands-on work.

Dress Requirements

Closed toe shoes are required. Students should wear basic clothes as clothing may get dirty.

Special Transport Requirements

Car is the best method of transport for this placement. A bus route may also be available depending on where students live.
