Are you a student interested in exploring a career in the electrical trade? This is your chance to gain practical experience at
one of Australia’s largest power stations!
Located at Yallourn, this opportunity offers students valuable hands-on exposure to the electrical systems that power a large-scale industrial operation. The station is fuelled by brown coal from Australia’s second-largest open-cut mine, where approximately 18 million tonnes of high-moisture brown coal are mined annually. This coal generates superheated steam to drive four massive turbine generators, producing 1,480 megawatts of electricity per hour—enough to power 2 million homes.
As an Electrical Trade student, you’ll learn from experienced professionals, assisting with the maintenance, repair, and operation of essential electrical systems critical to the power station's operations.
