A fish farm (aquaculture facility) is where fish are bred, raised, and harvested for food or restocking purposes. Students on work experience will learn about the care of aquatic animals, water quality management, feeding, and general farm operations.

Typical Tasks & Duties
Assisting with feeding fish and monitoring their health
Checking and recording water quality parameters (e.g., temperature, oxygen levels, pH)
Cleaning tanks, ponds, and equipment
Assisting in harvesting and processing fish
Performing general maintenance and farm upkeep
Observing and supporting daily routines of experienced staff
Student Requirements
Interest in animal care, biology, or aquaculture
Reasonable level of physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors
Completed Safe@Work module (especially animal/biological module if available)
Ability to follow instructions precisely
Parental/guardian consent (if under 18)
Dress Requirements
Work boots or waterproof sturdy shoes
Long pants and long-sleeved shirts to protect from sun and minor injuries
Hat and sunscreen (if working outdoors)
Waterproof jacket or rain gear as required
Gloves (usually provided, but confirm before start)
Special Transport Requirements
Students and families are responsible for arranging transport to and from the fish farm
Confirm transport arrangements in advance (e.g., public transport, drop-off/pick-up times)
Arrive early enough to prepare for the day and avoid rushing
