This placement offers students an opportunity to gain insight into the operations of a community-based organisation that connects education, industry, and community to improve pathways for young people.
Working with the Wimmera Southern Mallee LLEN team, students will observe and assist with project administration, event preparation, communication activities, and general office tasks. The placement will provide exposure to partnership development, stakeholder engagement, and the behind-the-scenes coordination that supports local education and employment initiatives.

Typical Tasks & Duties
Depending on the activities and program of the LLEN at the time of the placement, students could:
- Assist with preparing materials for meetings, events, and school programs
- Help set up and pack down displays or information sessions
- Update contact lists, spreadsheets, or basic data records under supervision
- Draft or proof short documents such as emails, invitations, or event summaries
- Support social media or communication activities (e.g. photos, captions, website checks)
- Collate feedback forms or survey responses
- Prepare mailouts or resource packs for schools and partners
- Attend team meetings to observe planning and coordination processes
- Assist with general office duties such as filing, photocopying, and organising supplies
- Observe staff working with community, industry, and school stakeholders
Student Requirements
Students should be friendly, reliable, and willing to learn new skills. Good communication and a positive attitude are important. Basic computer skills and an interest in office work, community projects, or communications will be helpful.
Dress Requirements
Neat business casual. Long pants or skirts; button up shirt or black t-shirt. Closed in shoes preferred.
Special Transport Requirements
This placement is in Horsham. Students are to make their own travel arrangements to attend the placement. Public transport information is available from PTV at https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/
Students may have the opportunity to visit regional schools and communities with project officers. The SWL Travel Form is required.
