The Capital

The Capital is a unique business in Horsham, providing both accommodation and bistro experience. The Capital is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner as well as providing coffee, cake and slices all day.
Students working at The Capital would benefit from experiencing a full hospitality experience. Included will be experience in front of house - serving and waitressing, back of house - kitchen work, reception -answering calls and greeting customers, house-keeping- maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for guests.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students may be rotated through a range of hospitality areas including:
Front of House - students will be involved in welcoming customers, serving customers, setting tables, delivering food and drinks, wiping tables and ensuring water bottles are filled.
Back of House- kitchen work and learning how to present meals well, food safety and food preparation
Reception - greeting customers and learning how to make bookings, take calls
Housekeeping - ensuring the executive, deluxe and family rooms are clean, tidy and ready for guests.

Student Requirements

Students are required to forward a current application letter and resume and organise an interview time with the General Manager to determine suitability for placement.
It is advantageous for a student to be completing a Certificate in Cookery.

Dress Requirements

Students need to wear closed toed shoes, tie hair back, wear minimal jewellery, wear black pants, black shirt and present in a professional looking manner.

Special Transport Requirements

This placement is in Horsham. Students are to make their own travel arrangements to attend the placement. Public transport information is available from PTV at https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/
