Typical Tasks & Duties
Designing a product is a meticulous process that combines creativity, strategy, and functionality. Crafting custom products from plastic lies a simple belief: plastic offers unparalleled potential compared to other materials.
The student may undertake the following tasks and duties;
• Observe and learn how rotational moulding is used to create durable, hollow plastic products, which manufactures high quality tanks and industrial plastic products.
• Observe and learn basic material handling, such as moving raw materials and helping prepare moulds used in the rotomoulding process.
• Observe machine operations, including how rotational moulding ovens and equipment are monitored for proper heating, cycling, and shaping of plastic products.
• Observe and learn to undertake quality checks on finished products, learning how operators visually inspect parts to ensure they meet the company’s quality standards.
• Learn safe workplace practices, including correct use of PPE and safe handling of equipment and materials in a manufacturing environment.
• Observe and learn basic assembly or finishing tasks, such as helping prepare components after moulding or observing technicians carrying out secondary operations.
• Observe and learn how to maintain a clean and organised work area, following workplace expectations for cleanliness and safety in production zones.
• Gain exposure to end to end product manufacturing, from concept to completed product, aligning with Global Rotomoulding’s commitment to full design to manufacture workflows.
• Observe and learn teamwork and communication skills by observing how production staff coordinate tasks to meet manufacturing schedules and output targets.
• Develop an understanding of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) processes, including how Global Rotomoulding produces custom components for diverse industries such as agriculture, civil infrastructure, transport, and industrial applications.
Student Requirements
Students with a positive attitude towards the Manufacturing Industry as a Production Worker who are self-motivated, willing to listen and follow instruction are encouraged to consider a future SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VET subject relating to;
• Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical Trade
Whilst the student is attending the work placement they are expected to:
• Students must be interested in the MANUFACTURING as a Production worker and possess good communication skills.
• Students must be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks as requested.
• Dress appropriately.
• Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
• Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
• Be punctual.
• Follow management instructions.
• Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
• Work within the team.
• Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
• Respect other people’s belongings.
• Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
• Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course.
• Take their Logbook to the work placement every day.
Prior to applying for a SWL Placement the student must.

Dress Requirements
The student must be well presented, clean, and hygienic at all times. The following dress standards apply:
Neat, professional work wear is required.
Safety boots or approved safety work shoes are required. (steel capped)
Flat, non‑slip, enclosed footwear must be worn.
Clothing must be appropriate and must not display images, symbols, or messages that others may find offensive.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PPE appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student will be supplied by the Host Employer.
Special Transport Requirements
Public Transport is limited, students to check bus transport availability and or speak to parents/carer to organise transport prior to contacting employer.
