Students will gain hands-on experience across many aspects of the business. This placement will provide you with a range of opportunities to develop your skills while working alongside experienced industry professionals.

Typical Tasks & Duties
Tasks and Duties: During your placement, you may undertake some of the following, or similar activities: - If practicable, follow the maintenance procedures for a piece of equipment while conducting maintenance. - Observe and assist with installation of software and hardware components as directed by the supervisor. - Design a procedure that can be used to assess the hardware and software requirements of the organization. Use the internet to research and obtain information on the specific hardware and software items required in a variety of work settings. - Conduct a system check and perform an anti- virus check using the appropriate software. - Prepare a maintenance schedule for a piece of hardware, in consultation with the supervisor. - Prepare guidelines for the use and development of a company web page. - Complete a hardware user’s guide for one piece of hardware located in the workplace. - Use a spread sheet to produce graphs of product sales and stock supplies. - Set up a database of the organisation’s clients - used to produce reports on contracts, spare parts and client details and requested tasks. - Undertake a stock take of paper, printers, disks, cartridges etc. decide on the fields and then use the data to compile a database. - Observe, follow and document OH&S guidelines as well as signage for employees and customers. - Operate and test computing packages. - Operate and test computer hardware. - Install and optimise operating system software. - Stack, store and inventory of materials. - Observe OH&S procedures on site and apply safe handling and storage of all equipment. - Clean site equipment under supervision.
Student Requirements
Requirements: - Specific requests from employer – must send resume, contact employer 2 days prior to commencement date. Will need to have permission to travel. Some employers have specific requirements relating to student placements. These may include sending in a resume, sighting a current Working with Children Check (WWC), gaining parental permission for the student to travel with employer or attending an OH&S induction prior to commencing a placement. Please contact the employer at least two weeks prior to the placement start date to see if there are any additional requirements
Dress Requirements
Dress Requirements: Most employers will have an expectation on what is appropriate dress or a requirement (such as safety or uniform) for the workplace. Please contact employer for details relating to any dress and protective clothing requirements prior to the placement commencement date. Another good idea is to look at the people at the workplace during your interview – observe what they are wearing and use this as a guide for how you should dress when you attend your placement, confirm this with employer at interview.

This employer is located approximately 3 or 4 minutes walk from the nearest bus stop.
