• Observing how incoming phone calls, emails, and customer enquiries are handled professionally

• Observing how administrative systems support project management, reporting, and workflow management
• Learning about the use of office equipment and software in a professional environment

Student Requirements

To participate in this observe‑only administration placement, students are required to meet the following expectations:

• Demonstrate a genuine interest in administration and business operations
• Follow all workplace policies, procedures, and office guidelines at all times
• Maintain professional behaviour, including punctuality, respectful conduct, and attentiveness
• Wear neat, appropriate workplace attire suitable for an office environment
• Listen carefully to instructions provided by supervisors and staff
• Observe only — no independent tasks, system access, or decision‑making responsibilities
• Remain within designated office or observation areas at all times
• Respect confidentiality and privacy requirements, including client and business information
• Advise supervisors of any medical conditions or concerns that may impact participation
• Comply with all school, employer, and workplace induction requirements

These requirements ensure a safe, respectful, and educational experience for students while participating in an office‑based environment.

Dress Requirements

Students are required to dress appropriately for a professional office environment. The following dress requirements apply:

• Neat, clean, and professional clothing suitable for an office setting
• Enclosed footwear with low or no heels (no thongs, slides, or open‑toed shoes)
• Business‑casual attire such as smart pants, skirts of appropriate length, or neat tops/shirts
• Clothing must be modest and practical, allowing safe movement around the office
• No offensive images, slogans, or inappropriate graphics on clothing
• Minimal jewellery and accessories to maintain workplace professionalism
• Long hair should be neatly tied back if required
• Good personal hygiene must be maintained at all times

Students who do not meet dress requirements may be asked to leave the workplace or may be unable to continue their placement.

Special Transport Requirements

• Students are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from the work site
• Construction sites may be located in industrial, remote, or developing areas where public transport access is limited or unavailable
• Public transport availability cannot be guaranteed, and students should confirm options in advance
• Travel by private vehicle, school‑arranged transport, or parent/carer transport may be required
• Students must arrive prior to site start times, which may be earlier than standard school hours
• Specific site locations and access details will be provided before the placement commences
• Any transport concerns should be discussed with the school and placement coordinator prior to confirmation
