This work placement opportunity provides students with exposure to a professional plumbing and roofing business servicing residential and commercial clients. Students will observe and support qualified tradespeople in day-to-day operations, gaining insight into plumbing systems, roofing installation and repairs, and general construction industry practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Assist tradespeople on residential and commercial job sites
Observe plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair work
Support roofing tasks such as inspections, repairs, and basic preparation work
Maintain tools and equipment under supervision
General site clean-up and manual handling support
Follow instructions from qualified plumbers and roofers

Student Requirements

Students must be at least 15 years old (recommended for construction-based placements)
Completion of mandatory school-based Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) training (e.g. Safe@Work) prior to placement
White Card (Construction Induction Training) is required for any work on construction sites or where students may enter active building areas, in line with WorkSafe Victoria requirements
Willingness to comply with all employer and site safety procedures at all times
Ability to follow instructions and work safely under direct supervision
Physical capacity to undertake light-to-moderate manual handling tasks
Commitment to punctuality, reliability, and safe workplace behaviour

Dress Requirements

Long work pants (no shorts)
Enclosed steel-cap boots
Hi-vis clothing if available (otherwise can be provided/advised by employer)
Weather-appropriate clothing (sun protection/rain gear as needed)

Special Transport Requirements

Students are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from the workplace
Punctual arrival is required to align with job site schedules
Employer may advise on suitable parking or meeting location details prior to commencement
