Alkane Resources Costerfield offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience as an Electrical Trades Assistant within a large underground mining operation. Students will observe qualified electricians and assist with basic tasks while learning about the maintenance and installation of electrical systems used across the mine and processing plant.

Typical Tasks & Duties
Tasks allocated will vary depending on the student's capabilities. Students may:
- Observe fault-finding and diagnostic procedures.
- Assist with preparing tools and equipment.
- Observe maintenance of vehicle electrical systems.
- Assist with workshop organisation and housekeeping.
- Learn about batteries, wiring systems and electronic components.
- Follow workplace safety procedures.
Student Requirements
Students should:
- Have a genuine interest in automotive or electrical trades.
- Be willing to learn.
- Display a positive attitude.
- Be reliable and punctual.
Dress Requirements
Long sleeve shirt, long work pants and steel-capped safety boots are required. Additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided where required.
Special Transport Requirements
Students are responsible for arranging transport to and from the Costerfield mine site. Private transport is recommended due to the site's location.
