Alkane Resources Costerfield offers students the opportunity to gain experience alongside qualified Plant Fitters responsible for maintaining fixed plant equipment used throughout the mine and processing facilities. Students will gain insight into preventative maintenance, equipment inspections and mechanical systems within a modern mining operation.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Tasks allocated will vary depending on the student's capabilities. Students may:

- Observe maintenance of conveyors, pumps and fixed plant equipment.
- Assist with preparing tools and work areas.
- Support workshop housekeeping.
- Observe preventative maintenance activities.
- Learn about mechanical components and plant systems.
- Follow workplace safety procedures.

Student Requirements

Students should:

- Have a genuine interest in mechanical engineering or fitting trades.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn.
- Display a positive attitude.
- Be reliable, punctual and safety conscious.

Dress Requirements

Long sleeve shirt, long work pants and steel-capped safety boots are required. Additional PPE will be supplied where required.

Special Transport Requirements

Students are responsible for arranging transport to and from the mine site. Private transport is recommended due to the rural location.
