Gain hands-on experience working alongside Ventia's Hospitality and Catering team at Puckapunyal Military Area. Students will observe and assist with food preparation, food service, kitchen operations and customer service while learning about careers in the hospitality industry. This placement provides an insight into maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and teamwork within a commercial catering environment.

Typical Tasks & Duties
Students may have the opportunity to:
- Observe commercial kitchen and dining operations.
- Asist with preparing simple food items under supervision.
- Set up and clear dining areas.
- Wash and sanitise crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment.
- Clean food preparation and dining areas.
- Restock consumables and supplies.
- Assist with stock rotation and storage.
- Observe food safety and hygiene procedures.
- Support the hospitality team with general daily duties.
Student Requirements
Students should:
- Have an interest in hospitality or food services.
- Be willing to learn and follow instructions.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude.
- Be reliable and punctual.
- Work well as part of a team.
- Maintain good personal hygiene.
- Follow all workplace safety and food safety procedures.
Dress Requirements
- Closed, non-slip enclosed footwear.
- Long pants.
- Plain shirt or polo (school uniform if applicable).
- Hair tied back if long.
- Minimal jewellery.
- Good personal hygiene.
- Additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided where required.
Special Transport Requirements
This placement is located within Puckapunyal Military Area. Public transport is limited. Students should arrange private transport to and from the workplace unless alternative arrangements have been made by the school or host employer.
