Typical Tasks & Duties

The role of a Tiling and Waterproof Assistant is to work with wall and floor tiling tradespeople and handle materials, use wall and floor tiling equipment and prepare surfaces for tile application.

Task and duties may include but not limited to the following:
• Plan and organise work.
• Conduct workplace communication.
• Carry out measurements and calculations, read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry.
• Handle wall and floor tiling materials.
• Use wall and floor tiling tools and equipment.
• Prepare surfaces for tiling and waterproofing application.
• Apply basic levelling procedures.
• Carry out basic demolition.

Student Requirements

Students with a positive attitude towards Tiling and Waterproofing with a keen eye for detail who are self-motivated, willing to listen and follow instruction are encouraged to consider a future SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VETDSS subject in Building and Construction.

Dress Requirements

The student will be required to wear long pants and steel capped boots.
