12th - 15th of November: A week in the life of a working musician ~
Located in Bundoora, Jets is a creative arts facility for young people which provides a range of programs and activities for young people. Facilities include a music recording studio, rehearsal rooms, a multimedia training room and dedicated community space. Jets' focus is to provide a safe place for young people, promote social connectedness, build personal and technical skills and to encourage self-expression through music and the creative arts. Jets also hosts Jets Productions (FReeZA), a committee of local young people who organise drug and alcohol-free music events throughout the year.

Skills You Might Learn

Potential Skills Attained Teamwork, problem solving, time management, using technology, communication, organisation and event planning. Improve industry awareness working within a youth and community focussed organisation.
Aligned with Cert III Music Industry (Performance Stream), students may have the opportunity to develop and understanding of copyright, develop and practise improvisation, compose a song or tune, make a music demo, performance craft, apply working knowledge of lighting to work activities, etc.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will become active members of the Jets Crew for a week. Work with a small team of other young musicians to learn songs, prepare for and book a live performance, create a recording and compose music for film! This placement week will give you an insight into the vast range of roles and activities that an independent working musician play! Ability to learn song quickly is an important skill for his placement.

A Travel Arrangement form may be required for this placement. Jets Studio is close to bus access, with links to trams on Plenty Rd, and trains on the Hurstbridge line.
