Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain hands on practical experience in the fitness centre environment and will interact with customers while under supervision. They will learn to work as part of a team while helping to maintain work areas. Communication skills will be strengthened as well as students learning from observing industry qualified and experienced staff. Skills in reception will be learnt along with how to write programs for members.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will participate in indoor fitness sessions involving supervision in the gym area. They will also assist in cleaning and maintaining the fitness equipment, perform reception duties and help clients. Lifeguarding will also be part of their duties.

Student Requirements

The students must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.

Dress Requirements

Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place plus active wear.

Special Transport Requirements

Students may need to organise their own way to work although there is a town bus service.
