Swan Hill Salvation Army Thrift shop.
This placement is in a large Campbell Street shop. Students will assist with the presentation and sale of clothing and homewares. Staff at the thrift shop are often volunteers and are very friendly. Management is also very positive about the SWL program in general.
Students who enjoy being part of a team and assisting others, should consider doing a placement with this business.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will gain some hands-on practical experience while assisting staff. Their communication and time management skills will be improved by their experiences. The students will be working in real-life scenarios in a real life environment.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will work with staff to assist them in their duties in relation to the tidying and sale of items in the store. Students will be required to be an active participant in all workplace practises while being supervised by staff.
Student Requirements
The students must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.
Dress Requirements
Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place.
Special Transport Requirements
Students may need to organise their own transport to work but there is a town bus service.
