This placement is a great chance for students with some creative flair to learn about retail. It particularly suits someone with an interest in liaising with customers and improving their communication skills while learning the basics of floristry. Students will gain experience in many aspects of the day to day operations of a busy florist shop.

Skills You Might Learn

This placement will offer students the chance to attain a broad range of retail skills. They will have hands-on practical experience, while working in a real life scenario. Specific examples are working as part of a team, communicating with customers, setting up displays and creating basic bouquets.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will assist staff carrying out their duties and complete tasks themselves as well.This placement is around customer service in the various sections of the store. Students will learn about stock replenishment and displays, assisting customers, packaging tasks and assisting with deliveries.

Student Requirements

The students must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.

Dress Requirements

Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place.

Special Transport Requirements

Students may need to organise their own transport to work but there is a town bus service.
