The SWL Opportunity is ideally suited to a VCE-VM, VPC or VCE student studying VET Engineering or VET Plumbing as part of their study program.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will work with Zilzie Wines staff to assist them in their duties in relation to student’s area of interest if available. Students will be required to be an active participant in all workplace practices identified for Structured Workplace Learning. The student will spend time under the direct supervision of experienced and qualified Zilzie Wines staff assisting with operational tasks and duties in the day to day work activities at the Winery in the selected occupation as an Assistant.

Zilzie Wines once the arrangement is discussed will provide the student with an overview of the tasks and duties that the student will undertake with the selected SWL Opportunity. The student will assist in the tasks and duties in one of the selected occupations.
• Administration/Finance/Quality Control.
• Engineering/Automotive/Maintenance.
• Food Production/Laboratory Assistant.

Student Requirements

Students with a positive attitude towards the Wine Industry who are self-motivated, willing to listen and follow instruction are encouraged to consider a future SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VDSS subject relating to the Wine Industry.

Whilst the student is attending the work placement they are expected to:
• Students must be interested in the Wine Industry, occupation and possess good communication skills.
• Students must be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks as requested.
• Dress appropriately.
• Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
• Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
• Be punctual.
• Follow management instructions.
• Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
• Work within the team.
• Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
• Respect other people’s belongings.
• Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
• Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course.
• Take their Logbook to the work placement every day.

Students must complete an online induction prior to attending the first day.

Dress Requirements

The student must be well presented, clean and hygienic at all times in the following work wear.
• Safety Boots
• Long Pants
• Hi Vis Shirt

Zilzie Wines will provide a Safety Helmet and other PPE as required.

Special Transport Requirements

Public Transport is limited, students to speak to school/parents/carer to organise transport prior to contacting employer.
