The Engineering - Fabrication work placement opportunity allows students to be based in the workshop and work under the workshop manager and gain an insight into the Engineering (Fabrication) side of the business and learn the operational tasks involved in day-to-day operations of a Engineering workshop.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will learn basic processes for welding, cutting, grinding and general stainless steel fabrication. Undertaking manual handling, performing engineering measurement, performing computations, apply principles of OHS in the engineering work environment. Work with others in the manufacturing and engineering work environment use hand tools and power tools.

Student Requirements

A genuine interest in Engineering (fabrication) must be required, along with a courteous and polite manner. Be willing to learn and take initiative and pride in tasks undertaken. The employer values communication skills, teamwork, punctuality and initiative.

Dress Requirements

Work boots, trade pants and old top. Overalls can be worn if you have them.
