Skills You Might Learn

Ability to communicate clearly with patrons, co-workers and supervisors. Ability to follow library policies and procedures. The ability to multitask and juggle many different jobs. Good interpersonal skills. Assist in the preparation of book displays, basic shelving ,basic circulation and desk duties, outgoing and incoming crates. Assisting older clients with their technology. Learn the different programs that are at the library and around the districts. This placement would also suit a VET Community Services student, as there is the potential to assist with providing and preparing for Rhymetime and Storytime. Rhymetime is a special session for babies aged up to 18 months. It features a mix of songs, music and movement, rhymes and activities especially for the baby.

Student Requirements

Positive attitude, polite, helpful and willing to learn. Confident, creative and a people person. Must be able to work with diverse groups including special needs, the migrant community and the elderly.
