Typical Tasks & Duties

All students on placement will get to meet hospitality professionals, observe safe working practices, see the various cooking techniques and equipment in use and experience being part of a dynamic kitchen crew. While students studying VET hospitality will have a chance to try general duties, such as food prep and cooking under supervision, ALL students attending this placement will be able to observe safe food handling, presentation skills for hospitality, and help with basic cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen area.

Student Requirements

Students must come ready to learn and be reliable throughout their attendance. Students will ideally have some existing training/skills or a genuine interest in hospitality as a career, therefore VET students, students who have completed a Food Handlers Certificate or have learned OH&S at school will get the most from this experience.

Dress Requirements

A white shirt, black pants and closed in shoes are typical to the industry and should be worn. Students must be well presented, with long hair to be tied back and facial hair kept neat and tidy.

Special Transport Requirements

Students must arrange own transport. Public transport options may be available.
