Mechanics assistant Work Experience- One week Block- available in Warragul with a service provider who has been in operation for many years.
The bus depot workshop will provide a range of opportunities as an introduction to the automotive and heavy machinery industry. The student will be supervised by qualified mechanics who will be assisting the student throughout the placement.

Skills You Might Learn

Basic diagnostic skills will be developed, identification of tools, computer software will also be used with basic diagnostic tasks. Students will also learn a number of employability skills including presentation, working as part of a team, communication skills, customer service and after care follow up.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will be able to observe technicians at work on an array of vehicles. Students will be able to assist a qualified technician to service busses. Tasks will include identifying tools required, handing tools and parts required in order to complete a service. Students will have the opportunity to participate in general servicing tasks. This will depend on the overall attitude and aptitude of the student and business workload.

Student Requirements

A keen interest in the industry and studying a related course.

Special Transport Requirements

The student or parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) is responsible for the student's transport to and from the workplace.
