Typical Tasks & Duties

During your placement, you may undertake the following:
- Use basic plumbing hand tools
- Use basic power tools
- Use plumbing pipes, fittings and fixtures to simulate plumbing installations
- Cut and penetrate building materials and structures
- Assist with gluing of pipes
- Assist with cutting of copper pipe
- Clean up work areas and prepare them for colleagues or manager
- Assist by putting on taps, traps and simple kitchen accessories
- Assist with digging trenches
- Carry out measurements and calculations
- Apply OH&S requirements, policies and procedures in the plumbing industry.

Student Requirements

Some employers have specific requirements relating to student placements. These may include sending in a resume, sighting a current Working with Children Check (WWC), gaining parental permission for the student to travel with employer or attending an OH&S induction prior to commencing a placement.
