Wellington Shire Council is offering a fantastic opportunity to explore your interests in Horticulture with the Parks Services team at the Sale depot. This is an exciting opportunity for a keen student!
Skills You Might Learn
You will gain and develop your skills in working as part of a team, communication and decision making and contributing to a safe workplace. You will also develop your horticultural knowledge and your understanding of garden maintenance in a hands-on environment.
Typical Tasks & Duties
You will assist the Park Services team with carrying out works and maintenance for council’s public open spaces. Tasks will include general gardening such as pruning and fertilising, checking and maintaining equipment and landscape maintenance.
Student Requirements
Students must be punctual, have a willingness to learn and take initiative to shape this into a valuable work experience for them. Student will need to travel with WSC staff when moving between locations. Students will need to be physically capable of carrying out tasks.
Dress Requirements
Students are to wear sun protective clothes and safety toed (steel cap) work boots.
Special Transport Requirements
You are required to provide your own transport to and from your allocated work site.
Students need to complete a travel arrangement form for this placement as some activities will require travel in Council vehicles. You will be advised of your supervisor for placement at your preplacement meeting.
