Swan Hill Rural City Council
This placement is with the Economic Development Unit at SHRCC where the focus is on a range of projects to boost the local economy. The unit is based in the Swan Hill Region Information centre which provides services to visitors and locals. Students will work in a team environment and gain worthwhile experience during their time there. Staff are friendly and SHRCC has been a supporter of SWL for a long period of time.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will have the opportunity to strengthen their employability skills with this placement. Having to operate as part of a team, using workplace communication skills, managing their own time, planning and using initiative and enterprise are all important skills for this opportunity.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students can expect a broad range of experiences with duties around assisting visitors, developing promotional and marketing materials and promoting events. The Information Centre also provides a ticket selling service.
Student Requirements
The student must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.
Dress Requirements
Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place.
Special Transport Requirements
Students will need to organise their own transport to work but there is a town bus service.
