This opportunity will provide the successful student interested in engineering, fabrication or machining hands on experience in a well-known Engineering business. Students will gain the knowledge and skills to achieve competence that will enhance their employment prospects in the engineering related industries.
Skills You Might Learn
Students completing a placement here have the potential to gain the following skills: Welding, grinding, shaping metal, drilling, metal filing, use of various hand and power tools and working as part of a team.They will learn to apply principals of OHS in an engineering environment, learn how to plan and undertake routine tasks, apply quality systems and procedures and work with others in a manufacturing and engineering environment.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Student will be assisting tradespeople with all aspects of the operation including reading engineering drawings, collecting materials for jobs, cleaning work spaces, basic welding, grinding, fabrication, manual production assembly all under supervision.
Student Requirements
To work in this industry students will need to be able to cope with the physical demands of the job, have the strength to handle the materials, tools and machines, be able to carry out accurate work mathematically and be safety conscious.
Dress Requirements
Steel capped safety shoes. Long sleeve overall. and other PPE will be provide according to roll placement.
