Stealthtech have a Structured Workplace Learning Opportunity (SWL Opportunity) as a Automotive Electrician Trades Assistant.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you are a keen student looking for a career in the Automotive industry and in particular, Automotive Electrical. You will be working with a highly experienced friendly supportive team with their services that include computer repairs and sales, electronic repairs and electrical component fitting. This placement will provide you with a chance to gain multiple skills across the Automotive and IT industries.

The SWL Opportunity is ideally suited to a VCE-VM, VPC or VCE student studying VET Automotive, Electrical or Information Technology as part of their study program.

Typical Tasks & Duties

As an Automotive Electrician Trades Assistant the student may spend time assisting with technical support in both Information Technology and Electrical Accessories, Retail and Office Administration under the supervision of qualified staff. Students will be expected to be an active participant in all workplace practices. This means assisting other employees in their roles. Some interaction with customers may also be part of their duties and assisting with instillation of automotive accessories.

Task and duties may include but not be limited to the following;
- Provide general support to staff.
- Plan and organise work.
- Conduct workplace communication.
- Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry.
- Assist to trouble shoot and diagnose issues.
- Learn system configuration.
- Assist with following processes of implementing and setting up new systems.

Student Requirements

Students with a positive attitude towards Automotive Electrical who are self-motivated, willing to listen and follow instruction are encouraged to consider a future SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VET subjects relating to Automotive, Electrical or Information Technology.

Whilst the student is attending the work placement they are expected to:
• Students must be interested in the Automotive Electrical and possess good communication skills.
• Students must be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks as requested.
• Dress appropriately.
• Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
• Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
• Be punctual.
• Follow management instructions.
• Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
• Work within the team.
• Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
• Respect other people’s belongings.
• Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
• Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course.
• Take their Logbook to the work placement every day.

Dress Requirements

The student will be required to present at work in the following work attire;
• Work pants.
• Hi visual shirt, long sleeve.
• Steel capped work boots.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer.

Special Transport Requirements

Public Transport is limited, students to check bus transport availability and or speak to parents/carer to organise transport prior to contacting employer.
