Skills You Might Learn

It will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to become a support worker within a range of educational settings. You will learn how to: support students with literacy and numeracy skills, and cater for the different learning styles. Learn to work within a small team, and follow safe work practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Typical task and duties may include but not limited to, assisting the class room teacher to prepare indoor or outdoor areas for learning or recreational activities. Helping and assisting students working on assigned activities. Participating in workplace health and safety and maintaining clean working environment. Your placement can be tailored to your interest and skills, whether that is education based, sport and recreation or arts, with one of the art teachers.

Student Requirements

You will be required to attend an initial interview to assess suitability, you must demonstrate an interest to work with children, be punctual and reliable. Be willing to engage with the student in the classroom and on breaks, show initiative and follow all school safety practices at all times.

Neat casual clothing, closed in shoes.
