Bunnings is the leading retailer of home improvement and outdoor living products in Australia and New Zealand and a major supplier to project builders, commercial tradespeople and the housing industry. Operating from a network of large warehouse stores, smaller format stores, trade centres and frame and truss sites, Bunnings caters for consumer and commercial customers. Colac Bunnings are really keen to work with and host the students of Colac and surrounds in the Structured Workplace Learning program.
Skills You Might Learn
In this business you will have the opportunity to learn many skills around customer serivce which will be terrific in any customer based job! This could include retail stores or admin/reception roles. Many tradesmen have begun their careers at Bunnings as they get hands on product knowledge and indepth customer service training in a supportive and fun environment.
Typical Tasks & Duties
As Bunnings Colac is so large - there are heaps of different departments you could find yourself working in! Don't know where you want to go? That's okay! At the interview - they will discuss the department that suits your skills and interests.
Below are some of the departments on offer:
- Customer Service (Registers)
- Special Orders
- Stock (Goods/services)
Specific tasks and duties will be discussed at your interview but you could find yourself - meeting and greeting customers, checking stock, recieving stock, merchandising around the store, taking orders, learning about products (tools, machines, flowers and plants).
To be successful in this SWL role - you will need to have a positive and can do attitude. If you're willing to learn - they are willing to teach.
Leather shoes - steel caps ideal but not essential.
(Work shirt will be provided).
Special Transport Requirements
Students must find their own way to/from Bunnings store.
