This is a fantastic opportunity for five students looking to gain exposure to assisting tradespeople in general vehicle servicing and repairs. Two of the placements will be located at South Morang Toyota and one at Preston Toyota. Since their establishment South Morang and Preston Toyota have built a reputation for great customer service and support. They sell both new and used cars and also have the complete range of services available to customers, including: fully equipped service department; a wide range of genuine Toyota spare parts; extended warranty options; car finance and insurance; and aftercare and accessories.

Skills You Might Learn

The opportunity to develop a broad base of skills necessary to maintain and service motor vehicles. This solid grounding in automotive maintenance and repair will provide the student with a head start in gaining an automotive apprenticeship. Working with power tools and equipment necessary to the occupation and business. Liaising and working with colleagues, manager, customers/clients and suppliers. Application of safe working practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Changing oil & filter, removing wheels, checking tyre pressures, replacing wheels, check & top up fluid levels, maintaining a clean & safe working environment, general servicing, working on brakes, general repairs and other duties as directed.Communicate with customers to help them with their service and spare part requirements via phone, email, or face to face. The students will be expected to carry out duties using safe practice at all times and having regard for the safety of customers, fellow employees and themselves.

Student Requirements

Students should be punctual and communicative. Students are expected to have a work ready attitude. They must be focused, punctual and reliable. Able to follow instructions and to be courteous and positive. Follow safe work practices.

Dress Requirements

Appropriate clothing for auto workshop and steel capped boots
