Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will gain hands-on experience in a variety of areas and be responsible for assisting in the following tasks;
- Fill and maintain presentation of stock
- Re-stock and sell products
- Help in the bakery with customer service when required
- Making of hot and cold beverages
- Ensure that the clients are served in a friendly and efficient manner
- Provide services to meet a high level of customer satisfaction
- Responsible for maintaining the standard in terms of sales and quality
- Responsible for packaging, labelling and merchandising bakery products
- Responsible for displaying products to ensure maximum impact, being aware of customer needs and behaviour
- Provide services to meet a high level of customer satisfaction
- General cleaning requirements.

Student Requirements

Students are encouraged to consider a SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VETiS or VCAL subject in Hospitality.
Whilst the student is attending the work placement they are expected to:
- Students are required to have a keen interest in the hospitality sector.
- Students must be able to spend extended periods on their feet.
- Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions.
- Students must be willing to communicate clearly and work with a team.
- Students must be completing a related subject or have displayed an interest in the area of hospitality and/or pastry chef.
- Student must be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks as requested.
- Dress appropriately and wear Personal Protective Equipment as part of certain work tasks and duties.
- Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
- Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
- Be punctual and notify the workplace supervisor and careers teacher of any planned or unplanned absence from placement.

Dress Requirements

All students undertaking a SWL placement with Willaura Bakery are required to wear appropriate clothing for the hospitality and food handling profession- enclosed, slip resistant shoes, white shirt and black pants. Work apron supplied for the duration of the placement.

Special Transport Requirements

The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) is responsible for the student’s transport to and from the workplace. If it is proposed that the student may need to undertake vehicle travel with their employer and/or supervisor during the arrangement (including transporting the student to and/or from the workplace), the employer must complete the Structured Workplace Learning Travel and Accommodation Form. The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) must give their consent by also completing this form.
