Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain an understanding of and develop the basic skills related to working in the Engineering Industry - Fabrication Trade.

Students will learn to work in a team, communicate effectively in the workplace, be punctual at all times, present at work in appropriate work attire, follow instructions, complete work with a good eye for detail and adhere to OH&S requirements at the work site.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will observe and spend time under the direct supervision of experienced and qualified engineers, fabrication trade assisting with general engineering tasks and duties.

Tasks and duties may include assisting to plan, prepare and organise daily work, safely manual handle engineering - fabrication trade materials, basic hand tools and equipment, help tradesman prepare surfaces for engineering construction, safely use basic engineering - fabrication hand tools, apply OH&S requirements for the engineering industry and clean and maintain the worksite.

Student Requirements

Whilst the student is attending the work experience placement they are expected to:
• Show a genuine interest in the Engineering Industry - Fabrication Trade.
• Be willing to observe, listen and learn while working in our team.

Dress Requirements

The student will be required to present at work in the following work attire;
• Full length work pants.
• Hi visual long shirt - engineering trade.
• Steel capped work boots.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer.

Special Transport Requirements

Student to arrange own transport to and from work.
