This professional and local business will give the student a chance for a hands on placement in a workshop that is a specialist in the fitting of custom tray bodies, hayman reese tow bars, bull bars, trailers, tool boxes and 3 inch roll bars. Mildura 4WD Accessories has qualified Auto Engineering Trade specialists to support student placements.
Mildura 4WD Accessories have a Structured Workplace Learning Opportunity (SWL Opportunity) as a Automotive Engineering Trades Assistant in Automotive Accessory Fitting. The SWL Opportunity is ideally suited to a VCE-VM, VPC or VCE student studying VET Engineering as part of their study program.

Typical Tasks & Duties
This position will provide students with the opportunity to develop a broad base of skills necessary in automotive electrical fitting of 4WD accessories. The student's task will include keeping the workshop clean and tidy, helping staff with tools, automotive engineering pre fitting including guillotine and folding and fitting of accessories and equipment and making sure all equipment is stored correctly. The student will apply safe working practices and observe OH&S procedures in the workplace.
Student Requirements
Students with a positive attitude towards the Automotive Industry as a Automotive Engineering Trades Assistant who are self-motivated, willing to listen and follow instruction are encouraged to consider a future SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VET subject in Engineering.
Whilst the student is attending the work placement they are expected to:
• Students must be interested in the Automotive Electrical Assistant in Automotive Accessory Fitting and possess good communication skills.
• Students must be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks as requested.
• Dress appropriately.
• Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
• Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
• Be punctual.
• Follow management instructions.
• Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
• Work within the team.
• Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
• Respect other people’s belongings.
• Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
• Demonstrate the skills they have developed in their course.
• Take their Logbook to the work placement every day.
Dress Requirements
The student will be required to present at work in the following work attire;
• Work pants, workshop attire or overalls supplied by employer if required.
• Hi visual shirt, long sleeve.
• Steel capped work boots.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer.
