AME Systems is a leading designer and manufacturer of quality electrical wiring harnesses and assemblies. They specialise in customised electrical solutions for heavy transport, light vehicle, military, medical and special purpose vehicles and machinery.
A placement at AME will open opportunities for students to engage with multiple departments in the organisation including Production Floor, Information Technologies, Maintenance, Warehouse, Reception and Administration support, Marketing and Communications. The student may also attain vital industry specific skills which will relate to their SBAT study commitments and are applicable to:

• Working with tools and equipment necessary to the occupation.
• Liaising and working with supervisors, colleagues, industry personnel, customers/clients and suppliers.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students are permitted to learn how to use plant or equipment only if they are explicitly required in the performance criteria or assessment requirements of a unit of competency the student is undertaking as part of a VET qualification.
Students may assist or observe trained staff with the following activities:
- Completing all induction requirements and training modules as part of a student placement.
- Assisting AME trained staff with relevant activities as instructed.
- Engaging with a diverse workforce with over twenty different cultures and languages.
- Completing tasks related to basic pre assembly, warehousing, dispatch and office administration as assigned by AME trained staff.

Student Requirements

The following requirements must be met:
- Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and have completed OHS modules as part of their VET course or school subject.
- Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions carefully and competently.
- Punctuality is important and any planned or unplanned absences must be reported to both the workplace supervisor and the careers teacher.
- Students should only undertake this SBAT placement if they are motivated and willing to actively participate in tasks and duties that will enhance their employability skills.
- Take their course assessment tasks to the work placement every day.
- Students must ensure safe work practices and look out for other team member's safety.
- Use of personal mobile phones are only permitted during meal breaks.

Dress Requirements

Dress requirements will be discussed with the successful student prior to commencement. The appropriate PPE will be supplied and students must follow procedures and act in accordance for wearing PPE.

Special Transport Requirements

The student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) is responsible for the student’s transport to and from the workplace. If it is proposed that the student may need to undertake vehicle travel with their employer and/or supervisor during the arrangement (including transporting the student to and/or from the workplace), the student or the parent/guardian (where the student is under 18 years of age) must give their consent.
