Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain an understanding of and develop the basic skills related to working in the Logistics Industry – Warehousing Assistant.

Students will learn to work in a team, communicate effectively in the workplace, be punctual at all times, present at work in appropriate work attire, follow instructions, complete work with a attention to detail and adhere to OH&S requirements at the work place.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will observe and spend time under the direct supervision of experienced staff assisting with general tasks and duties relating to warehousing operations. Tasks may include assist in warehouse operations work to receive stock in storeroom and prepare stock for placement in store. You may be responsible for ensuring the warehouse is kept orderly and clean, and that goods are secured, properly displayed and stored.

The student may participate in activities as instructed, safely manual handle and use materials and equipment at the work area, clean and maintain the work area and apply OH&S requirements for the Industry.

Student Requirements

Whilst the student is attending the work experience placement they are expected to:
• Show a genuine interest in the Logistics Industry – Warehousing Assistant.
• Be neat in appearance, maintain a high level of personal hygiene, willing to observe, listen and learn while working in our team.
• Students must be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks in a safe manner as requested.

Dress Requirements

The student must be well presented and will be required to attend work in the following work attire;
• Work boots.
• Work pants or shorts.
• Staff issued shirt.
• No inappropriate slogans or ripped clothing.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer.

Special Transport Requirements

Student to arrange own transport to and from work.
