South Yarra BMW is a car/automotive centre and are happy to host students studying a certificate in Automotive. Students will be paid $5 per day and there is the potential for ongoing apprenticeships for the right student.

Placements are available throughout school year.

This placement could align with your Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation through the following units of competency:
AURASA002 Follow safe working practices in an automotive workplace
AURTTK002 Use and maintain tools and equipment in an automotive workplace
AURAFA003 Communicate effectively in an automotive workplace

Students completing placement here have the potential to gain: communication skills, teamwork, use of hand tools, use of power tools and diagnostic equipment, problem solving skills.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students completing a placement here can expect to: Change oil & filter, remove wheels, checking tyre pressure, replace wheels, check & top up fluid levels, maintain a clean & safe working environment, general servicing, working on brakes, general repairs and other duties as directed.

Student Requirements

As the role is physically demanding at times, the ability to cope with a physical role is essential. Must be genuinely interested in the motor trade.
Communication skills, teamwork, use of hand tools, use of power tools and diagnostic equipment, problem solving skills.

Dress Requirements

Safety Boots, safety glasses and overalls. Neat and tidy.

Attendance: Dates and times are to be negotiated when arranging placement. Standard working day is 8:30am – 4:30pm. For 1 day per week Placements - placements should only be for 5 weeks. A student can seek another 5 weeks (20 weeks maximum per term, as per guidelines) should both the student and employer agree after the commencement of the first placement.
