A great opportunity has been offered in the Construction Industry – Tiling as an Assistant Tradesperson – Tile Layer at Versatile.

Versatile provide a quality tiling service to new homes or renovations on a bathroom, including installation of suites. Using the latest trends in mosaic to large sized tiles, including ceramic, slate and porcelain materials, Versatile will finish your kitchen or al fresco dining area to a high standard of quality workmanship. Versatile also complete work in commercial properties, basic repairs or maintenance on a property whilst they are specialists at silicone repairs in all areas, floor levelling and waterproofing.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain an understanding of and develop the basic skills related to working in the Construction Industry – Tile Laying.

Students will learn to work in a team, communicate effectively in the workplace, be punctual at all times, present at work in appropriate work attire, follow instructions, complete work with a good eye for detail and adhere to OH&S requirements at the work site.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will observe and spend time under the direct supervision of experienced and qualified Tile Layers assisting with general tile laying tasks and duties.

Tasks and duties may include assisting to plan, prepare and organise daily work, safely manual handle building and construction materials, basic hand tools and equipment for tile laying, help prepare surfaces for tile laying, safely use basic tile laying hand tools, apply OH&S requirements for the construction industry and clean and maintain the worksite.

Student Requirements

Whilst the student is attending the work experience placement they are expected to:
• Show a genuine interest in the Construction Industry – Tile Laying.
• Carry a Victorian Construction Induction Card (CI Card), please note: obtaining the CI Card is required prior to attending the work experience placement.
• Be willing to observe, listen and learn while working in our team.

Dress Requirements

The student will be required to present at work in the following work attire;
• Work pants or shorts.
• Hi visual shirt.
• Steel capped work boots.
• Maintain a high level of appearance as they may work in full view of a client from time to time.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer.

Special Transport Requirements

Student to arrange own transport to and from work.
