Maloney Anderson Legal, is a local leader in the Industry and have a great opportunity for a student studying a VDSS subject in Business and would like to gain experience in the law environment. You will work closely with, and learn from, a team of experienced Legal Secretaries to provide secretarial support to practitioners and partners.
The SWL Opportunity is ideally suited to a VCE-VM, VPC or VCE student studying VET Business as part of their study program. This is a great opportunity for a student looking to gain knowledge in the industry.

The student will gain specific industry skills relating to the Business, Clerical and Secretarial and legal Services Industry, including:

• Liaising and working with supervisors, colleagues, industry personnel, customers/clients and suppliers.
Typical Tasks & Duties
The student will undertake duties as a Legal Assistant as part of a professional and dedicated team in the day to day administration of the company’s services. The student will complete basic secretarial duties as instructed, working under supervision.
The student may undertake the following tasks and duties.
• Contribute to health and safety of self and others.
• Deliver a service to customers.
• Work effectively in a business environment.
• Process and maintain workplace information.
• Handle mail.
• Communicate in the workplace.
• Produce simple word-processed documents, amend documents and type correspondence in a legal setting.
• Create and use spreadsheets.
• Communicate electronically.
• Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices.
• Organise and complete daily work activities.
• Process financial transactions including money handling and extract interim reports.
• File management including opening and closing files.
• Photocopying and scanning documents.
• Duties as required.
Student Requirements
Students with a positive attitude towards Business Services - Legal with a keen eye for detail and are self-motivated, willing to listen and follow instruction are encouraged to consider a future SWL Opportunity placement to develop skills learned from their VDSS subject in Business.
Whilst the students is attending the work placement they are expected to:
• Dress appropriately.
• Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
• Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
• Be punctual.
• Follow management instructions.
• Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
• Work within the team.
• Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
• Respect other people’s belongings.
• Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
• Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course.
• Take their Log Book to the work placement every day.

Dress Requirements
The student will be required to present in the following work attire;
• Neat professional work attire suitable for office work.
• Closed footwear must be worn.
• Professionally presented at all times.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Employer.
Special Transport Requirements
Public Transport is limited, students to check bus transport availability and or speak to parents/carer to organise transport prior to contacting employer.
