Typical Tasks & Duties

Under direction from their supervisor a student's role will vary and may include:
- assist with inspecting and maintaining vehicles
- assist with completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters
- assist in maintaining vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions
- replacing parts and components and repairing body damage
- assist with testing engines, safety, and combustion control standards
- maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs
- keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

Student Requirements

With an interest in mechanics and the automotive industry you are keen to gain a greater understanding of the day to day operations of a workshop. You are expected to be reliable and willing to ask questions, you are able to understand instructions and work within a small team environment.

Dress Requirements

Long pants and shirt and closed toe work shoes / boots.
