Skills You Might Learn
Knowledge in using hand tools and power tools, measuring and calculating, technical drawing, thermal cutting, welding and safety in the workplace. Applying principles of occupational health and safety in the work environment. Interpreting technical drawing. Learn to work with others in a manufacturing / engineering related environment.
The student will have the opportunity to experience the following, using hand tools to assist in a job, perform manual and mechanical shaping and apply basic fabrication techniques.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students in the position will assist the supervisor in a range of tasks to complete basic fabrication techniques. They will tidy work sites and produce basic engineering components. The student will be required to be an active participant in all work place practices
Student Requirements
Must be eager and interested in learning and developing new skills. Must be pro-active and enjoy problem solving. The student must be reliable and punctual.
The students must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.
Dress Requirements
Steel cap boots and overalls provided.
