Established in 2001, Lillypad Flowers was born out of a little 'Cottage Garden on Spring' in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Over time they have seen the business grow from a couple of retail locations in Reservoir to expand into a warehouse now based in Preston. Their love for providing quality, unique and creative floral gifts curated with love has seen clients ordering and travelling from all over Melbourne for our flowers. With online sales and weddings and events as their primary business, they no longer offer a cut flower display, however can customise bouquets and arrangements while you wait or, you can select from a beautiful range of unique premade fresh floral arrangements and a show room filled with preserved flower arrangements.
Skills You Might Learn
As part of the placement students will gain the following skills: develop an understanding of how a flower store operates, develop a keen eye for design, colour matching and style arrangement skills, flower and plant care, good interpersonal skills and good at dealing with the public, improved communication and team work skills.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Being an assistant to a florist will be fun and creative. If students are willing to observe and pay close attention to what they do then you would learn to:
- receive shipments, snip and display our flowers
- top up watering solutions to enhance our flowers' life spans
- advise clients on possible flower combinations
- provide occasion-specific flower suggestions
- carefully arrange palatable bouquets for purchase
- assist with deliveries
-replicate online products faithful to our product images
-assist with ordering and visually merchandise and organise products display.
Student Requirements
Students are expected to be: keen, willing to learn, punctual and ready to develop skills in flower arrangement and care.
Dress Requirements
Students are required to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place.
Students must wear comfortable, flat, non-slip, closed toe shoes. The foot must be totally closed.
