This structured work placement is available for TERM 3 - week block dates can be negotiated.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Tasks on the SWL placement will vary depending on the current job, and on each student's areas of skill and interest. Tasks may include traditional carpentry and framing, preparing a building site, handling tools, nailing bracing, nailing triple grips, some cleaning, skirting, cutting timber, working alongside a carpenter, concreting and general labouring.

Student Requirements

- Be enthusiastic and willing to learn, able to follow instructions
- Students must have completed the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course
- Students must have a construction induction card (white card)
- Students are required to have a keen interest in the Building & Construction Industry


Student will need to bring lunch, snacks, and water (sunscreen if applicable).

Dress Requirements

Work wear appropriate for the Construction Industry including safety boots.

Special Transport Requirements

Student to make own transport arrangements to Strathfieldsaye for this placement.
