This is a great opportunity to learn a broad range of skills necessary for mechanical repairs with a highly experienced mechanic by your side. Specializing in 4WD repairs and servicing, Beacie Services also repair and service trailers, motorbikes, provide pre-road-worthy inspections, tune ups and rebuild a variety of cars from modern to old style cars.
Skills You Might Learn
You will learn the practical skills needed to work in a mechanical repair department and gain understanding of the auto industry. Students will learn how to do a basic car service, proper use of all tools and equipment, OH&S standards for the industry, mechanical skills , basic principles of using the hoist. General employability skills such as good communication, team work, problem solving initiative and enterprise and self -management will be gained.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will assist in servicing and minor mechanical repairs, working with computer diagnostic equipment, use a range of automotive tools such as air tools, rattle guns and a variety of hand tools. You will learn how to do a basic service to a car, such as; oil change, rotating tyres, checking brake pads and much much more!
A willingness to listen and follow instructions will be necessary to make the best of this placement. A keen interest in the automotive industry and positive attitude will also help. Please check with employer regarding any COVID safe practices and immunisation requirements before starting placement.
Steel capped boots, clothing suitable for factory work. Basic safety equipment will be provided, ear and eye protection will be supplied. No baggy clothing.
