SLTEC is a leading manufacturer of fluid fertilizers, based in Central Victoria. SLTEC's manufacturing plant is a world standard, high-volume operation supplying product to a wide range of eastern seaboard customers, including some of Australia's largest corporate agricultural producers. A Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) opportunity exists for a motivated young person to learn fabrication and welding skills and be exposed to a variety of welding techniques.

Routine manual metal arc welding
Weld using manual metal arc welding process

Applying welding principles
Selecting welding process
Applying safe welding practices
Interpret technical drawings
Mark off/cut out structural fabrications and shapes
Typical Tasks & Duties
Perform engineering measurements
Perform computations

Perform sheet and plate assembly
Perform routine oxy acetylene welding (under supervision)
Carry out mechanical cutting (under supervision)
Student Requirements
Students with a genuine interest in metal fabrication and/or engineeiring is essential for this position. Students must be willing to learn and take initiative and pride in tasks undertaken.
Dress Requirements
Fully covered workwear, steelcap workboots.
Special Transport Requirements
Student to make own transport arrangements.
