Scotty's Caravan Repairs is a busy and successful business located on Golf Course Road Horsham. It is owned and operated by Scott Morrow.

The business specialises in repairs and modifications to caravans, campervans, vans, buses and RV's (recreational vehicles). If you love working with your hands then this is the work experience placement for you. The work will involve removing, modifying, manufacturing and fitting new and 'after-market 'components to new and used caravans and other vehicles as directed by the owner.


Students will be required to communicate effectively with the owner, follow written and verbal instructions and carry out work in a safe manner.





Skills You Might Learn

This placement will provide students with valuable 'hands-on experience' and the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals.
Students will have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on SWL placement. These skills include valuable general employability skills in communication, teamwork, problem solving, planning and technology. Students will learn a broad range of specific trade skills including reading basic drawings, measuring and calculations, use of tools, assemble furnishing components, organise and communicate information.

Typical Tasks & Duties


Typical tasks and duties will involve assisting the owner to work mainly on caravans and camper vans.

Fit new 'aftermarket' components to caravans and other recreation vehicles.
Remove, replace, manufacture and/or modify damaged components of caravans/camper vans.
Use equipment and tools as needed.
Communicate effectively with the owner and follow written and verbal instructions.
Carry out work to the quality standards as set by the owner.
General workshop cleaning as required.

Requirements Safety Boots required
Durable work wear.
Neat appearance. Wear clothes appropriate to the workplace.

Students are expected to have a good work attitude and show initiative.

Dress Requirements

Closed toe, nonslip shoes.
Steel capped safety boots.
Workwear appropriate for the workplace.
Neat casual attire
Minimal jewellery and long hair tied back for safety purposes.

Special Transport Requirements

No specific transport arrangements available. Students must organise their own transport, to and from the workplace.
