Horsham Auto Electrical (HAE) is a family owned and operated business servicing Horsham and the Wimmera Mallee. HAE provide servicing and maintenance for all types of vehicles: from cars, trucks, farm vehicles to heavy transport vehicles, marine and golf buggies. HAE is known for their high-quality electrical services as well as their friendly service and affordable electronic diagnostic equipment and technical information. HAE offer a Test and Tag service and install and service the Drager Interlock Devices. HAE use only the best quality brand new or fully re conditioned parts which are guaranteed. HAE also stock a large range of batteries to suit all vehicles and budget., Services are provided either in the workshop or onsite.

This placement will provide students with valuable 'hands-on experience' and the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals.

Students will have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on SWL placement. These skills include valuable general employability skills in communication, teamwork, problem solving, planning and technology.

Students may also attain vital industry specific skills which will relate to their studies including:
• Working in real-life scenarios and environments
• Working with tools and equipment necessary to the occupation and business
• Liaising and working with colleagues, supervisors, customers/clients and suppliers
• Occupational health and safety practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Task & Duties: Typical tasks and duties will involve assisting technicians as they diagnose electrical faults in a wide range of motor vehicles. Vehicles can then be repaired / maintained as required using parts and tools from the workshop. Students will use equipment and tools as needed under supervision. After market accessories and modifications will also be fitted under the supervision of staff. General workshop cleaning as required.

Student Requirements

Students should have a keen interest in vehicles and possess some general mechanical knowledge, be willing to work closely with our qualified auto electricians and follow instructions.
Students will:

• Have a neat appearance and wear clothes appropriate to the workplace.
• Be willing to learn

Dress Requirements

Closed toe, nonslip shoes.
Steel capped safety boots.
Workwear appropriate for the workplace.
Neat casual attire
Minimal jewellery and long hair tied back for safety purposes.

Special Transport Requirements

No specific transport arrangements available. Students must organise their own transport, to and from the workplace.
