THIS POSITION: TRACK and FACILITIES MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT

The Horsham Greyhound Racing Club was formed in1971 and hosts races at the Horsham Showgrounds every Tuesday afternoon. The recently upgraded track is now regarded as one of Australia's best.
The HGRC offers a formal dining area, large undercover Grandstand, a quality race surface and exceptional and safe dog handling, washing, weighing and storage area.
Your role will be to assist the Maintenance Manager to deliver these services to a high and safe standard on race day.

Skills You Might Learn

This placement will provide students with valuable 'hands-on experience' and the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals.

Students will have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on SWL placement. These skills include valuable general employability skills in communication, teamwork, problem solving, planning and technology.

Students may also attain vital industry specific skills which will relate to their studies including:
• Working in real-life scenarios and environments
• Working with tools and equipment necessary to the occupation and business
• Liaising and working with colleagues, supervisors, customers/clients and suppliers
• Occupational health and safety practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will work under the direct supervision of the Track Maintenance Manager who is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the HGRC (Horsham Greyhound Racing Club) racing track, associated infrastructure, grounds and buildings. The focus of this role is to enable the conduct of greyhound racing whilst meeting the OH&S requirements of HGRC in providing a safe and clean environment. Your main tasks will be in assisting the Track Maintenance manager to: 1 prepare the track surface for racing 2 general maintenance of racetrack, buildings, gardens, car parks, fencing 3. assist with the repair and/or replacement of racing and associated track equipment 4. maintain workshop, tools and equipment.

Dress Requirements

Closed toe, nonslip shoes.
Steel capped safety boots.
Workwear appropriate for the workplace.
Neat casual attire
Minimal jewellery and long hair tied back for safety purposes.

Special Transport Requirements

No specific transport arrangements available. Students must organise their own transport, to and from the workplace.
