Skills You Might Learn

Students completing placement here will learn about: Use of related hand and power tools, building/site calculations, framing, site preparations, fixing, lock up, setting out, occupational health and safety, communication, team work and following directions.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will be assisting the qualified carpenter with all aspects of the building trade. This may include assisting with material calculations, labour, use of hand and power tools, liaising with clients, site safety procedures, renovating duties, framing, lock up and fixing.

Student Requirements

Students should have an interest in construction. They should also be willing to learn, be physically fit and able, have good communication skills and a keen eye for detail.

Dress Requirements

Overalls are preferable. Personal protective equipment.
